(I had been cut of the world by a gale force wind of 60 kn which somehow disrupted our 3g signal.)
How welcome was a friends suggestion to take a boat ride to San Carlos in Nicaragua. While most of the others stocked up on booze, I stocked up in wildlife photos. Not easy on a relatively fast boat but I couldn't miss that.
The booze boat is actually a lot cheaper than tourist trips and you can see as much.

The spectacled caiman, also known as the white caiman or common caiman, is a crocodilian reptile found in much of Central and South America. It lives in a range of lowland wetland and riverine habitat types and can tolerate salt water as well as fresh; due in part to this adaptability it is the most common of all crocodilian species.
