Coenagrion armatum, Joensuu, Finland This beautiful Damselfy has been shot by the local beach near my home. It took some time to identify this one and I&#039;m so convinced this to be a female Dark Bluet (Norfolk Damselfly) (Coenagrion armatum) that I had the courage to ID it. This species is fairly uncommon in this area .<br />

  1. Another beautiful one. Looks like the Finnish summer has a lot to offer. You're doing a great job, we have very few photos from there. Posted 9 years ago
    1. Finnish summer is fairly short but it really has a lot to offer. I still have some more species to add to your collection :). Posted 9 years ago
      1. I consider it the collection of all of us, but I know what you mean :) Posted 9 years ago
        1. I guess I didn't count myself in yet. Sorry, my mistake :) ! Posted 9 years ago
  2. Great shot and intro!
It is amazing how similar this looks to one I have here in my little jungle behind the house.

    1. So many of these black and blue species resemble each other with only minor differences that I try to be very critical identifying them. "Fortunately" we don't have that many species here, only 62 species have been recorded in Finland including both dragonflies and damselflies. Posted 9 years ago

Norfolk damselfly or dark bluet is a species of blue damselfly of the family Coenagrionidae. This species acquired its common name from its discovery in 1903 and presence in a very restricted area of the Norfolk Broads. Records came from Sutton, Stalham, and Hickling Broads.
