  1. Where was the photo taken? I guess it is a Western Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio rutulus) but there are a few similar species so the location might help. Posted 9 years ago
    1. So close! Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. The state butterfly of Georgia where this photo was taken. I would have posted this when I uploaded it but I got an error that it didn't upload properly.. Clearly not the case.

The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail is a species of swallowtail butterfly native to North America. It is one of the most familiar butterflies in the eastern United States, where it is common in many different habitats. It flies from spring to fall, during which it produces two to three broods.
