  1. Wow, Claire! If any photo is deserving of being on the "wildlife carnaval" list, it is this one. Fabulous species, great light, very well executed, a top shot! Posted 7 years ago
    1. Thank you Ferdy. Actually I was not pleased with this photo but it was the best of a bad bunch. I struggle in forests where there is lots of shade but also such bright sunshine coming through the trees. I posted it as we don't have a photo of one, I didn't know if I would get another chance and Maluku isn't exactly a popular destination. Plus of course it is such a crazy colour it just had to be shared! Thanks again, feel a bit better about it now! Posted 7 years ago
      1. If anything, the light and exposure is a major plus in this photo, I'm glad you shared it. I'm all too familiar with the 'white sky' effect in forests but this one doesn't seem to suffer from it. Posted 7 years ago

The Chattering Lory, ''Lorius garrulus,'' is a forest-dwelling parrot endemic to North Maluku, Indonesia. It is considered vulnerable, the main threat being from trapping for the cage-bird trade.

The race ''L. g. flavopalliatus'' is known as the Yellow-backed Lorikeet.
