    1. Touché, there is a sharper one of the spider :) . Only I totally lack the skill to ID our local spiders. I have at least 20 on my HD that I can't ID :( Posted 9 years ago
      1. Oh you are not alone in that one. So many spiders around here and many of them can't be identified even by the experts. You should post the good shots, maybe some of us can at least get it to a genus. Posted 9 years ago
  2. This is Epidendrum oerstedii [syn. Coilostylis oerstedii] distributed in Central America from Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. Note that the inflorescence is carrying 4 flowers from a maturing bifoliate [two-leaved] pseudobulb.

    Epidendrum nocturnum produces one flower at a time from the apex of a tall cane-like reed-stemmed plant.

It is usually autogamous and sometimes cleistogamous .

The haploid chromosome number of ''E. nocturnum'' has been determined as ''n'' = 20. The diploid chromosome number has been determined both as 2''n'' = 40 and as 2''n'' = 80
