  1. Three similar-looking and closely related species are all found in this area: Gephyromantis silvanus, G. rivicola, and G. webbi. (Note that older references will put these in Mantidactylus.) G. silvanus and G. rivicola have copper irises, whereas G. webbi has greenish irises. Based on that, this should be either G. silvanus or G. rivicola. The clearest difference between them seems to be that G. silvanus has very finely granular skin, whereas G. rivicola has relatively smooth skin with scattered granules. If I were guessing (which I am!), I would call this G. rivicola. Posted 9 years ago
