Close-up of Mulga Snake (Pseudechis australis) near Marree, South Australia This large Mulga Snake was basking on the road when I approached. I stopped my car and walked up slowly for photos, which irritated the snake into slowly slithering into the roadside vegetation. It wasn't too irritated though, because it stayed around long enough to allow me to take a bunch of photos. 1. Deeply down under, where each bush possibly holds lethal danger...how do you cope with this? Posted 9 years ago
  2. It's true that most of Australia's snakes are venomous, but like snakes everywhere they are not aggressive. So if you watch where you're stepping and don't do anything silly like try to touch them, it's really not an issue. Posted 9 years ago
  3. I was always very scared of them after I found one on my swag one day.
it is a great photo though!

  4. Excellent photo John... and it's good to keep foreigners wary of our wildlife. Must add a photo of a Drop-bear :) Posted 9 years ago
    1. Thanks Mark. I learned long ago to be *very* wary when standing under eucalyptus trees to avoid the drop-bears. Fortunately we have lots of imported eucalyptus trees in California so it's easy for me to practice being wary under them. Posted 9 years ago
