  1. I think this one is Mantidactylus (Gephyromantis) boulengeri. Even if I don't take location into account, that looks like the closest match from Glaw & Vences. G & V don't list Masoala Peninsula explicitly as a known locale, but they do list Nosy Mangabe, and most of the Nosy Mangabe species are also on the peninsula. It's got grainy skin but no ridges, dark & light banding on the lips but no continuous white band along the upper lip, the right kind of toe pads and webbing (at least for the visible toes), the right shape/color of eyes, and the right general body shape. Of course many of the Malagasy frogs look similar, but I don't see any other candidates that match your photo nearly as well. Posted 9 years ago

It is endemic to Madagascar. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, plantations, heavily degraded former forest, and introduced vegetation. It is threatened by habitat loss.
