The purple-rumped sunbird is a sunbird endemic to the Indian Subcontinent. Like other sunbirds, they are small in size, feeding mainly on nectar but sometimes take insects, particularly when feeding young. They can hover for short durations but usually perch to feed.

This one has a longer curved beak - it should be a female sunbird, but I'm not sure which species as they are similar.

From its nest building habit looks like a female.
Thought so much from the curved beak that it was not a common tailor bird. Posted 9 years ago
