Up to 50 cm (20 in.). Gray with brown spotting, larger black spots on yellow dorsal and tail fins. Black ventral and anal fins.
Habitat:
Juveniles in estuaries and silty reefs on open substrates with remote outcrops or reef or debris. Adults on deep reefs along walls with large caves. Often in small aggregations in depths of 30 m or more. Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines.

The blackfin slatey or black-foot sweetlips, "Diagramma melanacrum", is a species of marine fish in the family Haemulidae.
The blackfin slatey is widespread throughout the tropical waters of the central Indo-Pacific region from Indonesia to Philippines and Borneo. This species reaches a length of 45 cm. Its name comes from its black inferior fins; it also has distinctive black dots on the body which form diagonal lines.
