
Bennett´s sharpnose puffer (Canthigaster_bennetti)

Max length : 10.0 cm. Bennett's Puffer has a small mouth and a long, conical snout. It has a moderately compressed body with short-based dorsal and anal fins. The colouration of this species is variable depending upon the surrounding habitat. In weedy areas the fish sometimes has a greenish tint. It often has blue lines radiating from the eye, a pale belly with blue and orange spots, a dark, blue-margined region under the base of the dorsal fin and a ill-defined dark stripe laterally.
Indo-Pacific. Inhabits inner reef flats and sheltered lagoons. A common inshore species, often on algal or silty reefs and among attached Sargassum on shallow rubble flats. Feeds mainly on filamentous green algae and to a lesser extent on fleshy and coralline red algae and on benthic invertebrates. Monogamous.

''Canthigaster bennetti'' is a pufferfish from the Indo-Pacific. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 10cm in length.
