I can't really tell from your picture, but the scientific name used here (Sotalia fluviatilis) is for the tucuxi which is NOT the pink river dolphin with the long beak shown on all of the other photos under this name which have a scientific name of "Inia geoffrensis". Based on my sightings of tucuxi, I think that you are correct. Posted 8 years ago

The tucuxi , alternately ''bufeo gris'' or ''bufeo negro'' is a dolphin found in the rivers of the Amazon Basin. The word ''tucuxi'' is derived from the Tupi language word ''tuchuchi-ana'', and has now been adopted as the species' common name.
