  1. Great photo! Although, it is the male. Every male dragonfly or damselfly, have two distinctive genitalia positions, the primary genitalia located at the edge or their abdomen, and the secondary (accessory) genitalia, located below the first segments of the lower abdomen, a unique feature in all Animalia Kingdom. Example: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4AbO9fvFqd0/UQ5f1uI-fTI/AAAAAAAADeI/3Zrp7qYCce8/s1600/damsel+fly-1.jpg
Therefore, female dragonflies or damselflies only present the primary genitalia, located at the edge of their abdomen.

    1. Thanks for pointing out. I had used Dragonflies of India - A Feild Guide by K.A. Subramanian for identification. Posted 9 years ago
      1. Is there any online pdf version of that field guide? Thank you so much for the info, cheers* Posted 9 years ago
        1. There used to be online pdf of the book from 2005. There are links in our guide, but they are now broken. I have the files though. I can send them to you if you want, just send me a direct message with your email.
The link to the 2009 book requires a registration.
