Beautiful Tiger No, not a large fierce cat, but the larvae of a rather beautiful moth.<br /> I found 5 of these beauties in the garden this morning but by the time I had researched what they were, they had disappeared. How on earth do you lose 5 x 5cm long black and white caterpillars in a sea of green?       I am very excited, never seen a moth like this or indeed a caterpillar. As we finally head into summer, all the little creatures are starting to emerge, its wonderful! Posted 9 years ago

The Beautiful Tiger

''Amphicallia bellatrix'' is a moth of the Arctiidae family. It is found in Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

The larvae feed on ''Pinus patula'' and ''Crotalaria'' species.
