Girl Fight Two cow elk settle a disagreement as other members of the harem look on. I don't see this all that often, but the more I watch wildlife, the more I observe it. This is only the second time I have captured female members of the deer family fighting like this. I have also observed white-tailed deer does and moose cows fight in this manner. The elk or wapiti is one of the largest species within the deer family, Cervidae, in the world, and one of the largest land mammals in North America and Eastern Asia.
