    1. Yes, somehow I still can't believe we had this luck to come across this family:-) Posted 9 years ago
  2. You hit the jackpot! We visited a few years back yet saw no jaguars, and here you are finding an entire family. Posted 9 years ago
    1. And I was so excited, that I couldn't hold the camera properly;-). Everything was shaking - the boat and me;-). My Ex has extraordinerary film footage. He was the only one staying cool;-) Posted 9 years ago
      1. Based on our guide back then, in his entire career in the Pantanal (more than 10 years), he only saw Jaguars twice. So this is really rare.

Of course, it is a big place, so maybe it also depends on the exact location.

        1. According to other people there are some places in the Pantanal, where the chance is very slim to spot one?! Rio Cuiaba seems to be the hotspot to go. Posted 9 years ago

The jaguar is a big cat, a feline in the "Panthera" genus, and is the only "Panthera" species found in the Americas. The jaguar is the third-largest feline after the tiger and the lion, and the largest in the Western Hemisphere. The jaguar's present range extends from Southern United States and Mexico across much of Central America and south to Paraguay and northern Argentina.
