The Madagascan pygmy kingfisher is a species of bird in the Alcedinidae family. It is endemic to Madagascar and found in western dry deciduous forests.
Although it has been placed in the genus ''Ceyx'' and ''Ispidina'' in the past, a study of its molecular phylogenetic relationships with other genera in the region suggests it is best treated as a member of the genus ''Corythornis''.

He is very good looking and I can still see his catch, what a great bird! Posted 9 years ago
In my opinion for birds OSM or VR doesn't help much, it is usually the bird who moves before I do. My bird lens is MF and it is light and indestructible being 20 years old. I rarely observe shake but I often observe myself making mistakes predicting their movements. If I use AF with the zoom that goes only to 400 because the MF is badly designed on it I usually end up having a sharp twig or leaves. So I still use the old stuff :) Posted 9 years ago, modified 9 years ago
VR really is a must in this scenario. Not because of the shake, but because it would have allowed me to use a lower ISO. That's the reason I did not crop, its incredible noisy. Posted 9 years ago
