  1. I don't think this is Artipus floridanus. The surface of the elytra is not the same. This one has ridges while Artipus floridanus doesn't. Species in the genus Compsus have similar ridges and are also citrus pests, but still I cannot find a perfect match. I couldn't find photos for all the species either.

    1. I have found floridanus photos with ridges but on the other hand the rim of the elythra is more like your species, both of them.
if you don't mind please look at my second photo and the side view of the bisignatus... what do you think?

  2. thank you. Compsus auriphelacus looks similar but it is greenish. I think the bugguide photo might be misleading, as the weevil is dead.
the ecuadorian model bisignatus looks a lot better. So I have uploaded a side view on flicker if you would like to compare.

    1. Punctures in elytra are deep and obvious on both Compsus species but they are not so obvious on this one. Posted 9 years ago
