Female Magpie Robin sleeping, Masoala, Madagascar In 2012 in an earlier trip to Madagascar, I saw my first bird sleeping. Before that, the thought never crossed my mind on how birds sleep. Returning in 2015, here's another bird sleeping at night, a Magpie robin. It's a strange thing to see. We're so used to birds fleeing when you get to close, yet when sleeping, you can get into touching distance. They may even blink and seem to notice you, yet still not flee.
