On a beautiful December evening, I stepped out the door with my camera ready to shoot some birds. Though common this time of the year, it was still a challenge for me to snap a picture of this energetic bird as it flew from tree to tree. But in the end I was pleased with my photos.

  1. Hi chewymav! I believe the species you have photographed is the White-crowned sparrow(Zonotrichia leucophrys),common to the us and most of Canada. The one on the wikipedia page is skinnier as he is a juvenile.

The white-crowned sparrow is a species of passerine bird native to North America. A medium-sized member of the New World sparrow family, this species is marked by a grey face and black and white streaking on the upper head.
