Common Buzzard - Buteo buteo
On our trip to Germany we passed through Serbia and Hungary. And along the highway we saw at least 100 buzzards. Each couple of kilometres one or two of them perched on fence poles watching for moles and mice. I don’t know how many time I pulled over trying to take a shot. It was so frustrating. They are used to the passing autos, but if an auto stops nearby they immediately fly away. Anyway, me and my wife, we both made endless attempts to shoot some of them and took about 40-50 successful photos.
The common buzzard is a medium-to-large bird of prey, whose range covers most of Europe and extends into Asia. It is usually resident year-round, except in the coldest parts of its range, and in the case of one subspecies.
