Moluccan Cockatoo Not a pet per se, but an ex pet undergoing a transition to become part of a flock, albeit in captivity.
Moluccans make terrible pets, males especially can be highly aggressive. The noise they make is comparable to a 747 jumbo jet which emits 140 decibels. A moluccan can hit 135 decibels!
There is a great example here:-
I was fortunate enough some years ago to see Moluccans in the wild on the island of Seram in Moluku. Unfortunately at that time I knew nothing about either photography or birds so an opportunity badly missed. Maybe one day I shall return. 1. Great shot and the extra info and warnings are well appreciated. It seems almost every country has ex-pet shelters, indicating how big the problem is. Posted 9 years ago
    1. Thank you Ferdy. We now have four of these in a large aviary and still, the noise is deafening!!! Posted 9 years ago
