Coastal Wolf
Elders of the Heiltsuk First Nation along the B.C. central coast have long recognized the difference between coastal and inland grey wolves in their territory.
Now, new scientific evidence helps prove it.
A study by Victoria-based researchers, affirms genetic, ecological and behavioural differences between coastal and mainland wolves living in close proximity to each other.

The wolf is a large canine native to Eurasia and North America. The wolf is the largest extant member of the family Canidae, and is further distinguished from other Canis species by its less pointed ears and muzzle, as well as a shorter torso and a longer tail.
