
Heliconius charithonia vazquezae
this the southern version of Heliconius charithonia ! There is a slight difference in stripes and in Costa Rica you don't get the others.
It is the second generation in the garden since we are here and I am really glad that my strict NO to any chemicals we have pierced fruit and veg, but more diversity in butterflies. Those hardly ever leave the jungle part of the garden.

The Zebra Longwing or Zebra Heliconian is a species of butterfly belonging to the subfamily Heliconiinae of the Nymphalidae. It was declared the official butterfly for the state of Florida in the United States in 1996.
