Showing Off His Colors My friend and I were at a park in Bozeman, Montana when we noticed about a hundred mallards swimming in a portion of an unfrozen pond and basking in the sun on the icy edge. It was in the afternoon, around 3 o'clock, when most of them were popping out of the water to flap their wings. I couldn't believe how vibrant the colors were on the drakes and snapped a shot of this guy before he nestled on the ice. Anas platyrhynchos,Mallard Click/tap to enlarge
