Showing Off His Colors
My friend and I were at a park in Bozeman, Montana when we noticed about a hundred mallards swimming in a portion of an unfrozen pond and basking in the sun on the icy edge. It was in the afternoon, around 3 o'clock, when most of them were popping out of the water to flap their wings. I couldn't believe how vibrant the colors were on the drakes and snapped a shot of this guy before he nestled on the ice.

The mallard or wild duck is a dabbling duck that breeds throughout the temperate and subtropical Americas, Eurasia, and North Africa, and has been introduced to New Zealand, Australia, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, the Falkland Islands, and South Africa.
