  1. Hi fchristabt! I believe the species you are looking for is the large yellow underwing.
    Kingdom: Animalia
    Phylum: Arthropoda
    Class: Insecta
    Order: Lepidoptera
    Family: Noctuidae
    Genus: Noctua
    Species: N. pronuba
    Binomial name: Noctua pronuba

The large yellow underwing is very common in the uk, cuba, and north africa. Hope this helped!

    1. Sorry, I somehow missed your comment. Thank you so much for the help! Posted 9 years ago
      1. It doesn't look right to me. Noctua pronuba has a somewhat variable pattern, but it has a number of spots which are clearly distinguished and I don't see them here.

        1. Thanks, I agree that based on this it is unlikely for the species to be the yellow underwing. Posted 9 years ago
  2. It looks like Eudocima sp. Maybe Eudocima cf. phalonia (part of the Eudocima phalonia complex) or the closely related species, E. euryzona.

"Eudocima phalonia" is a fruit piercing moth of the Noctuidae family. It is found in large parts of the tropics, mainly in Asia, Africa and Australia but introduced into other areas such as Hawaii, New Zealand and the Society Islands.
