A Hooded Chameleon (Calumma cucullatum) intent on its destination This fairly large chameleon was doing the classic "two slow steps forward, one slow step back" chameleon dance while climbing this thin branch. I'm sure it thought we couldn't see it because it looked *so* much like a leaf in the wind. Note that this species name is spelled "cucullatum" by some and "cucullata" by others. Latin scholars are probably slugging it out even as I write this. Calumma cucullatum,Chameleon,Fall,Geotagged,Madagascar,Masoala National Park Click/tap to enlarge Species introCountry intro

  1. Well captured. Usually chameleons do see me and always turn their body away, making a shot like this very hard to accomplish. Well done, both on the photo and the species intro! Posted 9 years ago
