Accorn Woodpecker These woodpeckers had a nest nearby and later we saw them protecting their nest against a toucanet. Toucanets steal their chicks to feed their own. These woodpeckers are also famous for stacking their accorn stash in holes that they made on dead trees. In the end the trees look all decorated. They were seen in an area of forested valley next to the twon of San Gerardo de Dota. April, 2014.
