These two males were keeping a lookout while its flock was feasting before another days journey south from Canada. When they are on alert they are incredibly focused and attentive. A beautiful yet easily passed up on by onlookers as they have become so common in our surroundings.

The mallard or wild duck is a dabbling duck that breeds throughout the temperate and subtropical Americas, Eurasia, and North Africa, and has been introduced to New Zealand, Australia, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, the Falkland Islands, and South Africa.
