Feisty Flare
An adult Southern Water Snake I found creekside at sunset. This old fella's tail had been through a couple rounds but was sure healthy and fat! Water snakes always make me a little nervous as they have a very poor temper so when it came to moving this guy from the creek on shore for a couple shots my hands became a little shaky from the nerves.

The banded water snake or southern water snake is a species of mostly aquatic, nonvenomous, colubrid snake endemic to the central and southeastern United States.
