Kingfisher fishing at Sonsbeek After quite a long search I found this kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) at Sonsbeek Parc, Arnhem. I will return there with better light than the pretty dark, cloudy skies today. <br /> It stayed quite long at the same spot before taking of, but not long enough to get the monopod attached. After quite a long search I found this kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) at Sonsbeek Parc, Arnhem. I will return there with better light than the pretty dark, cloudy skies today.

    I agree that with more light the colors would be more vivid, but I think it is still a nice picture though! Posted 13 years ago

The Common Kingfisher

The Common Kingfisher is a small kingfisher with seven subspecies recognized within its wide distribution across Eurasia and North Africa. It is resident in much of its range, but migrates from areas where rivers freeze in winter.
