    1. certainly looks like it could be, or maybe Pluteus exilis - if I'm remembering right, this one was ID'd for me by a local expert, but they may be simply going off of what they've always called it - and the species appears to have been split up fairly recently (2014)... Posted 5 years ago

Pluteus cervinus is a mushroom that belongs to the large genus "Pluteus". It is found on rotten logs, roots and tree stumps and is widely distributed. It can also grow on sawdust and other wood waste.
