    1. Oh I've got a few months to find more :p Fall and winter are fungi seasons around here and we're scheduled for another mild winter so they'll likely last. And hey - I've only got around 200 out of the 1500 or so identified species that I should be able to find, so I've work ahead... Posted 9 years ago
      1. What a great outlook. This one is yet again spectacular! Posted 9 years ago
  2. Great capture! I love that it is fungi season again so we can all admire your fungi shots!

Another mild winter means easy travelling for me getting to the large mega fauna that I love to watch! I also just bought a canoe and will be using that as a means of transportation to some new areas in north Idaho! :)

    1. Welcome back! It certainly is fungi season. I'm trying my hand at matsutake (pine mushroom - tastiest one ever) hunting this year, but so far no success...
Congrats on the canoe - I bought a kayak last year, but I'm a fair weather paddler. I don't own a wetsuit or drysuit and I'm too chicken to go out on the water when it's cold out.

      1. I have never looked for pine mushrooms, maybe I'll give it a try this year. And thanks! I have spent countless hours canoeing with friends in their crafts, but this is my first ever! I am currently in the process of painting it up in a nice river camouflage and will be fishing out of it in northern Wisconsin for 4 days this weekend. Posted 9 years ago
        1. Just promise to have someone you trust ID anything you find -making a mistake with these can be extraordinarily unpleasant to fatal.. http://www.alpental.com/psms/PNWMushrooms/PictorialKey/Tricholoma/Amanita_smithiana_and_Matsutake%20Marian%20Maxwell.htm\
I've eaten (and smelled - they have a very distinctive odor) matustake that I have purchased before, but you bet your bippy anything I find, if I do, will go to the Mycology Society's mushroom ID clinic before I eat it...
