    1. I'm amazed that I found so many different and identifiable mycena in one day... The bright and colorful ones people pay attention to and write about. To tell the truth though, I didn't even know all of the yellow/orange were all different species until I got home and looked closely. Posted 10 years ago, modified 10 years ago

This tiny Mycena can be distinguished from the numerous other small litter decomposers that inhabit local woodlands by a bright yellow cap and similarly colored, extremely thin, fragile, pruinose stipe. It is most likely to be confused with a close cousin, Mycena acicula, a species with a orange to orange-red cap.
