variegated stilt walker The stilt is a collective name for several bird families belonging to the order of charadriiformes, in common usage, the term can also be used for birds from ciconiiformes and gruiformes. Birds waders mentioned include the jacanas, oystercatchers, avocets, Thick-knees, plovers (including the lapwing), sandpipers (including godwit, curlew and woodcock) and fork-tailed plover. The term waders is not applicable to all charadriiformes: gulls, terns, auks and hunters belong to the charadriiformes but no waders.Waders have, as the name suggests, long legs. They usually live in the vicinity of water. During migration and in winter they often mud flats in dense groups.They feed on insects, worms, molluscs and crustaceans; sometimes on plant material, small fish, etc. Many waders therefore have a modified bill. They can, even with a dense beak, the ends somewhat like a pair of tweezers open bar. Moreover, in these types of the beak tip covered with small scanned bodies. The Ruddy Turnstone is a small wading bird, one of two species of turnstone in the genus "Arenaria". It is now classified in the sandpiper family Scolopacidae but was formerly sometimes placed in the plover family Charadriidae.
