Evarcha falcata (jumping spider) pre-jump, Netherlands This jumping spider was about to make a jump. Before they do, the crawl to the edge of a leaf and secure a safety line. Their legs are said to have an hydraulic mechanism, that allows for the explosive power they need. The wall of green to the left is a single leaf of grass, to show how tiny they are.
