  1. It took me a while searching for a butterfly with tails before a realised that these are not tails, but part of the hind wings is missing... Posted 10 years ago
    1. Thank you WildFlower. I couldn't figure it out. I actually took pictures of the "species identification" chart while I Was there however the colours were similar to what I saw but the wing shape was not. I didn't want to incorrectly identify it. I wonder what happened to the poor thing.. Posted 10 years ago

"Parthenos sylvia", the clipper, is a species of nymphalid butterfly found in south and southeast Asia, mostly in forested areas. The clipper is a fast-flying butterfly and has a habit of flying with its wings flapping stiffly between the horizontal position and a few degrees below the horizontal. It may glide between spurts of flapping.
