After some searching I found the closest match to be the nymph of the Tropidacris Collaris, like pictured here: http://www.flickriver.com/photos/ucksmucks/3369688793/
This grasshopper specie is one the biggest grasshoppers around reaching a length of 10cm. Posted 13 years ago
On a side note, human behavior can somewhat be compared to what these grasshoppers do: exploit all available resources and then move on. Posted 13 years ago
