  1. I was trying to get a shot of these when I was up north last. We dont get them down south :(. Great shot ^_^. You spotted any hummingbird hawk moths yet? You should be able to get a great shot from a distance with your setup. They were incredibly difficult to shoot with mine :( . Posted 10 years ago
  2. Thanks mate :-D not seen any as yet but will certainly keep an eye out, no doubt will get some funny looks with my foot long lens... Posted 10 years ago
  3. Hi Stuart,
This looks like a Thymelicus sp. It doesn't have the yellowish spots of the large skipper. Thymelicus lineola and Thymelicus sylvestris are very similar. This one seems to have black tips of the antennae. On the other hand it looks like a male with a longer sex band. Do you have another front view of it showing the tips of the antennae?

    1. Hello! Thank you for your comment, unfortunately I don't have any additional shots of this that would aid in identifying it. In all honesty, I forgot I'd taken this last year! :) Posted 8 years ago
      1. Well, in this case I am not sure what to do with it... The long sex band is clearly visible so maybe it is more likely the small skipper.

        1. Spot on, thank you very much for your time in trying to identify it :) it would be great if the bugs would just say what they are! Posted 8 years ago
