Giraffe Silhouette - Keepers of Symmetry
The silhouettes of a Giraffe family, against the fading light of sunset, as photographed in the wilds of Namibia, southwestern Africa.
You will note that the "noise" (grainy texture in the light areas) of this image is rather high ( ISO 800). With faded light, this is the "slowest" photograph that could be taken, but the effect of light absence is noted.
Non the less, this is my favorite subject of all time ... silhouettes.
From an animal's behavioral point of view, they will stand still or even come closer if you are close to the ground (and do no pose a threat height wise or approaching them). They will come to you, literally.
The giraffe is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant. The giraffe is also noted for its extremely long neck and legs and prominent horns. It stands 5–6 m tall and has an average weight of 1,200 kg for males and 830 kg for females.
