Large bee on Charlock Normally, bees hardly attend our garden. It is part of a bigger national bee crisis. This year I planted a mix of 37 wild flowers and attached a bee "hotel" in the corner. The result is several dozen bees who are very busy pollinating the flowers for over 2 months now, a joy to watch. The cost of this little help to nature: less than 10 euro. "Sinapis arvensis" is an annual or winter annual plant of the genus "Sinapis" in the family Brassicaceae. It is commonly known as field mustard, wild mustard or charlock. "Pieris rapae", the small white butterfly, and "Pieris napi", the green veined white butterfly are significant consumers of charlock during their larval stages.
