  1. Checking entries in my birds app, it has a lot of visual similarity with the Cetti's warbler, except for the yellow throat, which the Cetti's warbler does not seem to have. The Willow Warbler therefore seems a more likely candidate. The Willow Warbler has a look-alike twin brother, the Common chiffchaff.

My best bet would be the Willow Warbler, but not 100% sure.

    1. I would agree with Willow Warbler, they can be difficult to separate from Chiffchaff without hearing the song but the leg colour can be diagnostic and we have a good view of them in this shot. Though young Chiffchaff can have paler legs as this one is ringed it would infer it has been about for some time to be caught. Posted 10 years ago, modified 10 years ago
      1. Thanks for confirming. @Garry: feel free to ID it, I think it's sure enough now. Posted 10 years ago
  2. Thanks guys, my best guess was a Willow Warbler. There was a pair of them in a tree on its own up in the peak district where i have not seen them before, which made me think maybe Pipits or Cetti's. They didn't sing either so obviously would have known if they did. Posted 10 years ago

The willow warbler is a very common and widespread leaf warbler which breeds throughout northern and temperate Europe and Asia, from Ireland east to the Anadyr River basin in eastern Siberia. It is strongly migratory, with almost all of the population wintering in sub-Saharan Africa.
