    1. The paintbrush at Rainier has been incredible this year - so much of it and big, bright flowers. I've heard it has been the best flower season for 40 some years. Posted 10 years ago
      1. It has been the same here in Yellowstone. We have had a lot of moisture and some record breaking heat (75-80 degrees, hot anytime of year in YNP) and the wildflowers are just spectacular! Lupine, monkshood, Arnica and paintbrush everywhere! Posted 10 years ago

''Castilleja miniata'' is a species of Indian paintbrush known by the common name giant red Indian paintbrush. It is native to western North America from Alaska to Ontario to California to New Mexico, where it grows usually in moist places in a wide variety of habitat types.
