Pregnant onion
Seriously, that is its name!
I bought this odd looking clump of bulbs last year with no idea what it was and after the wild piggie came around and had a good old munch I thought it was lost. However, it has slowly been coming back to life and shot out this rather unusual flower. It is called pregnant onion because the main bulb produces little baby bulbs above ground.
According to Wiki, these plants are native to South Africa although SANBI (The South African National Biodiversity Institute) suggests that it is not endemic although widespread throughout SA.

''Albuca bracteata'' , known by the common names pregnant onion, false sea onion, and sea-onion, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae. It is native to South Africa and tropical east Africa. It is used as a houseplant.
