  2. This is hardly better, but there is a hint of pattern so my best guess is Polites peckius. Posted 10 years ago
  3. I agree with your theory! When you look closely at the coloring and markings they are close.

"Polites peckius" is a North American butterfly in the family Hesperiidae, subfamily Hesperiinae. This skipper ranges across Canada from British Columbia, as far north as Cartwright, Labrador; Moar Lake, Ontario; Leaf Rapids, Manitoba; and the Hay River area in Alberta. In the US, it ranges in most of the northern and central states, except on the west coast.
