  1. This could be more likely the Acanthiza chrysorrhoa, although it has very bright yellow underparts.

    1. I agree. The spotted head fits better with the yellow rumped thornbill. It has been difficult trying to accurately identify this bird. Posted 10 years ago

The yellow-rumped thornbill is a species of passerine bird from the genus Acanthiza. It is a small, brownish bird with a distinctive yellow rump and thin dark bill. It inhabits savannah, scrub and forests across most of Australia and eats insects. The species engages in cooperative breeding.
