Phasianus colchicus The male is much more striking than the female. Adult males have a chestnut-colored plumage with gold-brown, black and light blue markings. The cock has a long, golden-brown tail with black stripes. The lower ranges of chestnut, to lichtblauw- and few colored and the belly is gold-chestnut colored with dark spots. The coverts are dark chestnut. Head and neck are dark green with iridescent dark blue. A green-gray glossy piece covers the top of the head and tapers to a point in the neck, the neck is surrounded by a white band. On the upside down red wattles and green tipped "ears." The Common Pheasant, is a bird in the pheasant family. It is native to Asia and has been widely introduced elsewhere as a game bird. In parts of its range, namely in places where none of its relatives occur such as in Europe, it is simply known as the "pheasant".
