  1. This is certainly not a bluebell, I don't know what it is. Posted 10 years ago
  2. Sorry, it is indeed a Bluebell ID by a biologist! Please don't remove or alter ID's! Posted 10 years ago
    1. I remove the IDs when they are not correct. If you don't know the species it's better to leave them unidentified.
I don't know what kind of a biologist that is. I am a biologist too and I can recognize a bluebell when I see one but this isn't one. It is not even close. You just have to compare the shape of the flower to see the difference. This flower has green sepals and merged petals which form a narrow tube first, then a larger bell shape. The bluebell only has bell shaped tepals, which are strongly recurved at their tips. It doesn't have any oval leaves either - it has a few narrow long leaves, all growing from the base of the plant.

    2. Update, this is a Virginia bluebell - Mertensia virginica. You should be more careful with the common names. Next time ask your biologist about the scientific name. Posted 10 years ago
  3. OK. Putting your ego aside, what is this species? Posted 10 years ago
  4. A Virginia Bluebell! I was correct. Its a Bluebell! Yes? Posted 10 years ago, modified 10 years ago
    1. If this is supposed to be a joke, I am not laughing. It is 3 AM here and I am identifying the species for you instead of going to bed.
If it isn't - No, you identified it as a common bluebell - Hyacinthoides non-scripta, which is completely different.
