I don't know what kind of a biologist that is. I am a biologist too and I can recognize a bluebell when I see one but this isn't one. It is not even close. You just have to compare the shape of the flower to see the difference. This flower has green sepals and merged petals which form a narrow tube first, then a larger bell shape. The bluebell only has bell shaped tepals, which are strongly recurved at their tips. It doesn't have any oval leaves either - it has a few narrow long leaves, all growing from the base of the plant.

If it isn't - No, you identified it as a common bluebell - Hyacinthoides non-scripta, which is completely different. Posted 10 years ago
