  1. That's very interesting, I've been to the same place, also did the night tour, and saw this mouse lemur:

I'm wondering what hint gives away that this is a Goodman's Mouse Lemur? Not questioning it isn't, just want to learn.

  2. Hi - great question and I will try to answer as best I understand.......but I am not a lemur expert so am happy to be corrected. My ID for this pic comes from the location (andasibe). The pics you have posted (great pics by the way!) are from ranomafana national park - goodman's only found in limited range (see here http://maps.iucnredlist.org/map.html?id=136199).
Telling the difference between most of the mouse lemurs I find really difficult....and as far as I have read the mouse lemurs are often distinguished by genetic differences with a lot of morphological similarity in appearance. Differentiating goodman's for microcebus rufus in the small area where both may occur - the white stripe on the nose for goodman's goes from rhinarium to forehead, and also big testes of goodman's. More info in original paper describing goodman's here

Having said all of that - not sure the pic I have posted demonstrates the definitive morphological features.

Goodman's mouse lemur is a species of mouse lemur from the region near Andasibe in eastern Madagascar. It is thought to have diverged from other mouse lemurs in the region about 2 million years ago.

The species is named in honor of primatologist Steven M. Goodman. "Lehilahytsara" is a combination of the Malagasy words which mean "good" and "man". The finding was presented August 10, 2005, along with the discovery of the northern giant mouse lemur as a separate species.

In 2005,.. more
