  1. So true! I once got lucky in Madagascar:

    Madagascar Nightjar at day During our trip in Madagascar, several times we heard a distinct animal call that sounds like a pingpong ball dropping, usually around the time the sun was setting. Little did we realize this was the call of the Nightjar, a nocturnal bird. <br />

They are reasonably common in Madagascar, but it is less common to find them sleeping on the forest floor during the day, even less common to find two keeping each other warm. Check out their enormous heads and tiny beaks. Andasibe,Caprimulgus madagascariensis,Madagascar,Madagascar Nightjar

The long-tailed nightjar is a species of nightjar in the Caprimulgidae family. It is found in Africa where it occurs in Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, and Uganda.
